The event, held in front of Starbucks, drew a strong turnout from residents who spoke directly with officers about public safety, neighborhood concerns, and the department's community response strategies. Guests also enjoyed free coffee from Starbucks and fruit bowls courtesy of Ubatuba Acai, while children and families posed for photos with officers, motorcycles, and the department's Mobile Command Center. The department emphasized that every purchase and every conversation makes a difference
This year's Coffee with a Cop carried an added message of solidarity. On September 17, the Pasadena Police Department announced the start of its Pink Patch Project Campaign, part of a national law enforcement effort to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. The campaign officially launched October 1 and will continue throughout the month with events aimed at uniting the community around this cause.
“Our mission with Coffee with a Cop has always been to break down barriers and build trust with the people we serve,” a department officer said. “By adding the Pink Patch Project, we are also standing together with those affected by breast cancer and contributing to research that saves lives.”
Upcoming Pink Patch Project events include Dine for a Cause on Wednesday, October 16, at California Pizza Kitchen on North Los Robles Avenue, where a portion of the day's proceeds will support breast cancer research. Residents are also encouraged to purchase commemorative pink patches and merchandise from PPD, with all funds benefiting the campaign.
Wednesday's gathering reinforced how community dialogue and shared causes can help strengthen ties between law enforcement and residents, while also shining a spotlight on a fight that touches families across Pasadena and beyond.
